German Development Bank Funds Tunisian Water Efficiency Programme

Tunisia, on Tuesday, signed 2 financing agreements with the German Development Bank (KfW). An amount of €111 Million is granted to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries to carry out the Storage and Flood Protection Programme. "This programme contributes to the development of rural areas by mobilising drinking and irrigation water," said KfW Project Officer in the Water Sector Simone Cremer. The Storage and Flood Protection Programme also aims to protect the population and infrastructure in the upper Medjerda valley (Algerian border - Sidi Salem dam) against floods.
